Newberry, Florida – June 14, 2016 – OBMedical Company, a leader in external maternal-fetal monitoring systems for laboring women, is pleased to announce the launch of our LaborView® wireless electrode system at the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) conference in Dallas, Texas. LaborView® is an advanced wireless maternal-fetal monitoring system for at-term laboring women with a single baby. LaborView® works non-invasively via surface electrodes on the maternal abdomen to measure fetal heart rate, contractions, and maternal heart rate.
“Current external monitoring systems, such as tocodynamometers (TOCO) and ultrasound often require constant repositioning, lack wireless capability and often fail in obese patients,” said OBMedical CEO Mark Samuels. “We believe LaborView® will be much more convenient for both nurses and laboring women, while also providing an alternative to invasive internal fetal monitoring and avoiding the risk of infection or injury.” The FDA cleared LaborView® system wirelessly interfaces to existing maternal-fetal monitoring units, is non-invasive, and is unaffected by maternal BMI, thus obese patients may no longer routinely require internal monitors.
A study sponsored by OBMedical demonstrated that LaborView® provides a more reliable interpretation of uterine activity than TOCO and more accurately reports fetal heart rate than ultrasound. Additionally, patients reported improved comfort compared to standard belts.
Kevin O’Connor, VP of Sales and Marketing notes that “with LaborView®, healthcare professionals can focus on nursing the mom not the monitor.” O’Connor further indicated that the product was the subject of “overwhelming interest and demand at AWHONN”. To request additional information or to schedule a demonstration please call Kevin O’Connor, VP of Sales and Marketing, at 303-552-7354 orKOConner@obmedco.com.
